numbers, Positional notation, base conversion

hey guys!
i want to write a code that makes it possible to convert bases in positional notaion of positive integers.
i dont know which container i should choose.

for my last experiment with polynomials, the map container was quite adequate. can i use maps for this task aswell? or do you know a better alternative container?
