Merge Sort Linked List

Hi guys, I was assigned to do a merge list which when show out an output would resulting the steps such as initial numbers, split, sort left half, sort right half, first partition and sorted instead just show a sorted answer. Could anyone help me with these as I squeezed out all my brain juice out and still could not figure it out :( :( :( :(
