How to become a c++ programmer?

I have a two years associate's degree in computer science (2011). I've read several text books and taken additional course work in c++/php/mysql. I've done many projects along the way. I don't have any IT experience on the job yet.

I want to get my foot in the door to a career path that would terminate in c++/java developer. I supposed I would have to find an internship in C++ (my strongest language) or as a white box SQA tester. Does anyone have any advice on landing my first gig from a real world perspective??
