Senior Technical Project Manager for Global Investment Research (Agile)


Job Description

Global Investment Research (GIR) performs fundamental analysis of individual companies, sectors, and entire economies. It produces macroeconomic forecasts, reports on companies and industries, investment opinions on individual securities, strategic portfolio management recommendations, and a wide range of data products for the firm's investing clients and for the firm's own traders and salespeople. GIR Technology builds the software that enables these activities.

The Senior Technical Project Manager works with leadership and key stakeholders, customers and partners, taking full responsibility for the development and ongoing enhancement of multiple projects within Global Investment Research. This position works with Product Management, Product Owner and Agile development team to turn roadmaps into reliably executable delivery plans, coordinating work over multiple shared platforms.

The Senior Technical Project Manager will:

Oversee the Product Lifecycle for one or more product lines, delivering products, enhancements and maintenance work on time, on budget, with delighted customers and a happy team.
Create and track large scale delivery plans for multi-location, full life-cycle initiatives for multiple teams in an Agile environment.
Working with the Product Owner and Technical Leads on business analysis and specification, create and manage project estimates, manage scope negotiations throughout the project lifecycle, and adhere to company's project quality and performance standards.
Identify, mitigate, and manage issues and risks on projects including mobile, server, and data integration components.
Clarify and communicate product line delivery objectives and success criteria to the team while providing motivation, direction, and overall management to teams of up to 30 people organized into sub-teams.
Track and communicate project status, issues, risks and decisions to senior management in an Agile, change-laden environment.
Provide formal administrative management, mentoring and career development opportunities for junior PMs.
Sponsor and implement best practice process improvements to meet Project Management department objectives.

Desired Skills & Experience

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
5+ years managing software development using a formal software development lifecycle
Experience in Agile methodology.
2+ years managing program level or complex software projects (multiple interconnected teams, distributed locations, etc)
Deep knowledge and experience of what goes wrong on software projects (experience as a developer the past preferred)
Strong communication skills, team work and interpersonal skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and organization skills
Awareness and interest in team dynamics
Ability to utilize various technologies and tools to effectively manage projects and provide clear and concise communications to teams and stakeholders
Finance experience preferred.
