Without getting into the specifics of the hundreds of dialects there are two languages primarily spoken in China, neither of which is actually called "Chinese". Mandarin known as "the common speech", and Cantonese. I'm no expert but I've read that they are as different as Spanish and Italian.
Yes, I agree completely with Computergekk01 there are tens if not hundreds of languages spoken in China but I do suspect wgkrd (OP) means Mandarin becuase it is the most commonly spoken language in china.
