BREAKING NEWS: Steve Ballmer announces retirement

... Ok so not really news anymore but interesting still. I've been following it since the announcement really, but I'm just curious what other technical folks think about it. Is this a good thing for Microsoft? Bad? Weird timing? (Yes)

Who's Steve Balmer?
Oops, goofed his spelling. Fixed now

I still don't know who that is. A quick google search shows that he hates open-source software, shows himself ignorant of all uses of open-source software (based on his opinions of Google and other companies), and uses propaganda and yellow-journalism to get his way.

I really don't think Microsoft lost much.

Microsoft actually gained 7.3% when his retirement was announced (of course, the Nokia deal erased that and more)

It seems he knew very well when to retire.:)

Who the beans is that?
I thought it was odd that he just issued this huge company wide reorganization, then announces his retirement. And now he buys out Nokia. Poor Microsoft is getting butchered by him.
