Cryptography has existed for thousands of years, so yes of course. Google.

As ReisdentBiscuit just pointed out, cryptography has been around for thousands of years. Cryptos were usually used most during times of war to help relay messages between leaders and generals so the opposing forces couldn't figure out their moves or plans. So before computers, all cryptos were just simply pen and paper (or typewriter and paper when that was invented).
