Apple Pay, Google Wallet, and NFC payments becoming common in the USA
Apple announced their answer to Google Wallet. Some editorials* are suggesting it will cause NFC payments to really take off.
Between 10 million and 50 million installs of Google Wallet have occurred. Taking the low ground of 10 million that's about 17% of google's share. Barring the fact that not every install is a new user and assuming apple fairs about as well, we can add 9 million to that. So about 19 million people would be capable of NFC payment. About 6% of the population in the USA. Probably not enough to get the ball rolling...
What are your thoughts? Do you think the addition of apple pay will cause NFC payments to be commonplace?
