There really are such things as ethical hackers. Some companies have whole departments whose sole job is to try to hack into the company's own systems.

I suggest that you try to get into computer security, anti-virus detection, or even cyber warfare. You need to learn some low-level stuff: network protocols, computer program runtime environments, assembly programming, to name a few.

Many companies are starting to support bug bounties, e.g. GitHub. You could look into that if you don't want to be a professional pentester.
