Suggestion: Disallow noobs from making new threads.

Wow, who reported everything? My post was also a joke, no hard feelings. I think we should all just calm down. The day is almost over anyway for most of the world.

A moron who needs to nut up and say what his beef is in the open forum...reporting is pointless. I have my suspicions.

Does anybody actually read the reports? Some guy here abuses the buttons, degrading its severity. Now a post with overly explicit content is on the same level as a comment saying "I disagree"

All that report button does is change icons. It has no use unless it's used against a new account. I didn't report anybody.

For those who didn't notice, it says that the thread is an April fools joke right in the first paragraph.

Am I the only one who has tried to make an April fools joke here?

Grey Wolf, when did I say that nobody would fall for it? The point of it is so that you fall for it. Falling for it means thinking it's real but realizing it's not once you actually read the thread.

And I don't know what this has to do with anything:

Duthomas, I disagree in that I don't believe that a single thread title (on a subforum that is not used by newbies in the first place) is enough to convince anybody from not joining the forum. If they really were offended, they would have read the thread to see what the poster actually had to say. And if they read the thread, they would realize that it was a joke. I didn't even mention that they would see that it was posted on first April (depends on your timezone) if that wasn't a big enough giveaway in the first place.

And I'm pretty sure that all of us joined this forum to discuss related to C++, it doesn't matter what opinions some people posses, that wouldn't have affected whether I would have joined this forum or not. Replies to my questions could influence whether I stay or not, but that's it.

So I'm not convinced this thread could have ANY possible harms.

Does the developer maintain this forum at all?

And the argument happening above me is just stupid. Just leave it. It was an April's fools joke. Maybe it is offensive to some people, what can you do?

April's fools is the best time of the year, to me.
To Grimes benefit of the doubt, can anybody suggest a better April's fool prank? If not then you can't criticise this thread for being a bad prank.

Yes...probable. Reports are sent to the admin. How often he checks them and acts on them is anyone's guess.

Would you be talking about my post? I would describe it as coloufull rather than explicit and it doesn't say 'I disagree'.
The point is if you want to send someone a message that you have a problem with their post, don't bother using the report button, they will not get the message.

Yes, maybe not as much as he used to.
Has anybody tried contacting him about the glitch when making a new thread?

Probably but feel free to raise the issue yourself.

This is an O-O-O-O-L-D problem, every few months some noob complains about it, and it still it here.

Go ahead and bug the admin about it, but you won't be the first to do so, neither will you be the last.
The biggest sign* (to me) that there's at least minimal maintenance occuring: The bottom of the page says "© cplusplus.com, 2000-2019 - All rights reserved - v3.1", so the admin's at least updated that there :)

* Apart from the fact that the website keeps running at all, of course.

The updated copyright could be done by a server-side script, not necessarily something done by human maintenance.
Nope, it's something manual. It changed from 2017 to 2019 sometime between January 18th and January 20th.

I said "could be."

I don't think it is automated, but it is a possibility. A very slim one.
