We're just talking about network speeds, not changing how everything that involves transmitting data will work.
Ah I guess that's right. Like I said, from a consumer point of view bytes/second makes more sense. For example, my mother has no idea what the difference is, she thinks it's all the same. And actually most of the people I know who aren't involved in computers think they're the same.

But at the same time, maybe this means we need to have education in that area? It's just like the metric system.
@RB my point was that you used the "it's already more common" argument instead of the "it's more practical" argument. I know that bits are more practical ;)
