These are crazy, at first I thought these were simple blowguns, but then I saw...

This guy is legit, you guys should check out his channel.

This kinda makes me want to attempt to make paper guns.
I'm not sure how much of it is really paper, but it's fairly impressive craftsmanship anyhow.
I have to ask though
Choose one - What's with Americans and guns?;or What's with children and guns?.
@hamsterman I am not American, but I think it might have to to with the fact that in America anyone may own a gun (please do not quote me on this though).
Sure, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Amendment_to_the_United_States_Constitution but I'm not sure if that's a good enough reason to see guns as something awesome rather than tools of violence.
Guns are for defense against other people with guns.
Sorry, I can't tell, was that a comment for or against guns? It could really go either way...

That's kind of a stereotype. Not all Americans like guns.

I personally hate them, and wouldn't own one. But I like the notion that everyone is free to own one if they choose.
There's nothing wrong with guns. But there is something wrong with crazy people getting a hold of them, but that's being dealt with slowly.

I personally have 4 guns and plan on buying a 5th this summer.

It was both.

The world is in a catch-22 situation. Either guns shouldn't exist (but then we'd just have another comparable weapon) or everyone should have guns. It's not possible to ensure that nobody has guns - the bad guys always will, and there's not much that can be done.

Guns are for defense against other people with guns. If guns are illegal, then only bad people will have guns, making normal people defenseless.

I hate guns, but because they exist, we all have to have them.

Guns don't kill people.
@Disch, there seems to be a correlation between being into gun porn and being American. This sense could be very much biased by the fact that many people on the net are Americans though. I wish I could find some statistics about it...

@ResidentBiscuit, there is actually no hard line between the sane and the crazy. Also, I recall someone saying that violence will never go away, because it satisfies basic needs of the aggressor - significance, power, thrill - in the fastest possible way.

As for your guns, do you claim to own them (all of them) for self defense?

@LB, while I don't agree with your point, that's not what I wanted to talk about. My problem is the warm fuzzy feeling some people seem to have towards guns. Even if you live in the wild west, I don't think that the capacity to murder with ease should get that kind of treatment.
Cars do

No they don't, I have yet to see/hear of a car drive itself into a human or other car.

The semantic argument you're making ceases to be impressive after age 5 or so.

Guns do not kill people, psychopaths with guns kill people.
Cars do not kill people maniacs driving cars kill people.

My point is that owning a gun is not going kill anyone, I could have all the guns in the world and no one will be killed by one of them if I do not use the gun to kill them.
Guns that aren't used to kill people don't kill people.

A much more impressive assertion.

@cire what is your point? are you just trying to put what I say down?

Yep. You caught me.

There are many different reason to own guns in America. The first and foremost on and the reason why there is the 2nd Ammendment is so the american people have some sort of defense against tyranny. A populous that is armed (I believe the latest US statistic is that about 80% of the households in America own a gun) is a lot harder to force tyranny on then a unarmed populous.

Another reason people own guns is for self defense. When some rapist or some drug addict that is willing to kill breaks into someones house they should have the right to defend theirself with lethal force if it is needed. Everyone always says call the cops, but in some communities the cops are 5 mins - 20 mins away from helping you, so you need to protect yourself.

Another reason people like guns in America is for hunting. I know where I live (Northern USA in Minnesota) almost all my neighbors and friends like to hunt. It could be deer, geese, wolf (Which they just legalized), or whatever. Granted not everyone enjoys hunting but a good amount of people do.

So there are many reason someone might want to own a gun, and its a not a bad thing for them to have that right to. I own one handgun for defense since I have a armed house robbery happen to me and my family when I was younger, and I hope I never have to use it but if someone breaks into my house and is intent on doing me or my girlfriend harm I will use it.
@Script Coder, I am not suggesting that weapons should be banned. There are some reasons to have them. What I am suggesting is that people who find guns "sexy" should be shunned.

Also, my position is not in any way a product of whatever happened in US not too long ago. I'd be glad if nobody brought that up. I assume "psychopaths with guns kill people" and "crazy people getting a hold of them" were references to that, right?
