+1 to the notion of moving this to the lounge. But to get you off to a good start, a search engine redirection is most easily accomplished with a browser helper object which can be disabled right from the browser. I think the big one that is in circulation right now is still 'conduit' or spelled something like that, but it's been awhile since I've seen it so I could be wrong.
