My Own Onscreen Keyboard

I am attempting to develop my own onscreen keyboard for Japanese Hiragana. I am OK in making the GUI for this keyboard (OK meaning capable and not skilled) and the only part I don't know is how I could get the buttons to type to another Window like in the Onscreen Keyboard for Latin characters that Windows provides, I don't know which function to use, nor do I know the terminology of what to search for, therefore I can't Google it.
