File Message

Is there a way to send a message to a server when a file is opened? Could it be placed in the header of the file? Kind of a small application perhaps that would send the machine ID? Any help or direction is appreciated. I'm just barking uo a tree at this point! Thanks.

Not possible to embed an executable inside any document and expect the document will work properly. Yes, you could record file access and actively inform it. What information do you need to collect, exactly?

Thank you. I need to collect any info from the computer that makes it unique and send this info back to a server upon the file being opened/accessed/read. I would need to record the file access fro the file itself as opposed to it being a program on the computer, in other words the file would be the trigger.
