cpp file is opening wrong file

When I use file/ open, to open one of my saved programs, it opens the wrong program, like one of my other programs I saved. I am trying to open the cpp file.
This happens with all of my programs it randomly opens one of several of my other programs. I assume I am saving it incorrectly, Please advise.

Any help would be appreciated, has this happened to anyone else?

What are you opening the files in? What operating system are you using? How are you trying to open the files?
