Avast keeps interrupting my programs?

Sorry for this super noob question, but my antivirus keeps interrupting my programs, and it might be for a dozen seconds or so but its highly annoying.

I've tried disabling the app shield but it keeps doing it! Anyone have any experience with this?

Its been a while but I'm pretty sure under settings there should be a place to enter exclusions. I'm pretty sure that's what I had to do but again its been a while. I know avast was never happy with Visual Studios when running c++ code but it never complains about Intellj or Android Studio. Best of luck, hope this helps.

Thank you for the reply, but under exceptions it needs an exact location. I'd have to do it for every single new application I make.

I'll be doing this until I find a better alternative, which I'm hoping there is...
