insert images 3D IN C++

I'm new to this forum and wanted to ask a question to the more experienced ...
I'm doing a software in C + + with Visual C + +, and I want to insert in the page "menu" a 3D image, from where you can select a particular image, and then start the other pages of software systems.
you think you can do this kind of thing?
There are tutorials which teach you to do this?
I read something about Direct3D but from what I understand is used to create 3D games, but I do not have to play games.
