I am a computer science student that would like to find a good math compiler or compiler add on, to make programs to help tutor with algebra, trig, through calculus and linear algebra if possible. I was looking at the MATLAB compiler and it was difficult to find out all the specs what it does, and even how much it costs. I know that for something that does what I want it to do, and i understand it won't be cheap. Thanks for any responses

Maxima. It is free and you should try it before you will look into other non-free systems

Also I personally use Mathematica by Wolfram

Try out WolframAlpha, it is marvellous
