automatic execute program

i would like to ask, how can i execute automatically a c++ program in a specific time (for example at 1:00 pm) ? Is it possible to execute a program when computer is shutdown ?

What's your platform? Windows has a feature called Scheduled Tasks for just that purpose. I'm not sure if other OS's have something similar.
