using C++ to develop Android applications

I want someone to give me a gist on who C++ is used in programming Android applications.

As far as I know there's no C++ compiler for android. There's a developer kit and a compiler for C but they give you limited access to their libraries so you're on your own. Might be better off using Java instead.
