Senior Software Engineer (CONTRACT) – C++

At our Web Development Centre of Excellence, we are responsible for the development of a number key components of the iDirect product, as well as providing professional services, training and product support to our global user-base. Satellite networks are complex systems; configuration, maintenance, monitoring and reporting is made a lot easier with our innovative web based Network Management System tools we develop here.

The Back-End component of the iDirect Pulse product we develop in Cranfield is responsible for the collecting, processing and caching of data obtained from iDirect satellite systems. Data is gathered in real time from a range of points throughout the network, and stored in a manner easily accessible for the middle and front end components of the Pulse NMS solution.

A key role within the wider Development Team, the Senior Engineer’s responsibilities will include:

• Leading the development of C++ based Back-End components of iDirect’s NMS tools
• Assisting with code reviews and advising on testing and test automation
• Mentoring colleagues and aiding their technical development
• Playing a hands-on role with development projects

To be considered for this role you will have:

• A proven track record of C++ development
• Experience of development in a Linux environment
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking
• Exposure to OOD
• Exposure to real-time, fault tolerant services
• Knowledge of automated testing

This is an initial 6 month contract with a high likelihood of extension
