having trouble with wireshark

so im starting to get into networking as a hobby, and was interested to see what my code was doing and sending and reading and such, so i did some research online and found wire shark to be good. the only problem is, it says it doesnt have any interfaces to capture on. i tried [code]sudo apt-get install libpcap-dev[code] but that didnt work
