Backups and hardlinks

Does anyone know of any backup or related software for Windows that can mirror a complete directory structure between volumes while preserving as much metadata as possible? I'm particularly interested in preserving hardlink relations.
I've looked at ImageX, but it seems like it needs to create an intermediate WIM image, but I'd prefer to avoid the extra copy step, since I'm talking about 400+ GiB.
I also have a program ready to generate a batch script, but I don't know what the interpreter will do with Unicode, so that's only a last resort option.

Have you looked into Windows Robocopy http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc733145%28v=ws.10%29.aspx ? Not sure if this is what you are looking for but thought it might help.
Yes. Robocopy definitely doesn't preserve hardlinks and just makes duplicates. It's otherwise really good at preserving metadata.

Hmm your right what about this http://rdiff-backup.nongnu.org/ (Quite old since last update). Not sure how well it will work well on Windows but might be worth a shot.

I'm just guessing here from my limited knowledge on the subject ;p. The only thing I really know about it is from talking to my work's system admin about how he does the companies backup (I believe they use CA ARCserve Backup but that is far out of the budget for individuals).

Ehh. Sounds alright, but I'd prefer something made from the ground-up with Windows in mind. Also, it seems much more complex than what I need. DOTADIW.
So I ended up using ImageX. It's pretty useful to make exact backups of entire directory trees, and 7-Zip even supports WIM files.
