PCB Traces

I just had a quick question, is it possible to take a PCB and cut in half, yet then use a cable or wire to connect all the split the traces so it still works? Like just to distance the PCB apart? I was looking at Ribbon Cable but wasn't sure of it's uses.

Single and double sided boards, probably. any more 'sides' it would be a bit hard to get inside the board.

So I could use Ribbon Cable for single and dual sided PCBs and the PCB would still work? If I connected the traces with stripped Ribbon Cable and soldered it on? The Ribbon Cable would carry the electrical impulses?

It would depend on the gauge of the ribbon cable, the trace size, and such. It would not be an easy job. You would have to clear the surface of the traces you need to solder to or find a suitable component leg.

Just so you know, I haven't done any serious electronics for a long tine.

Alright, thank you everyone.
