Platform Specific API

So first off, long time since I posted but I remain a careful vigilante of the lounge section albeit most you probably don't know or remember me :D

Ok, so I'm working on a 3D a game engine and for now, the project more about learning the inner mechanics of the thing than presenting a final game as a result of that engine. That being said, I know most of you would reprimend reeinventing the wheel, but since I'm working solely on Windows, would it be advantageous to work with the Windows API instead of using for example, GLFW? And I'm not talking about the coding aspects because there GLFW scores an easy win, I'm talking about runtime and about what's lighter and faster.

As always any answer is much appreciated,

Doesn't matter. Pick something and use it. Most of what you learn will be directly transferable to other platforms.
