I need to chat with a few C++ experts?

I've learned C++ very well and now I'm interested in doing something productive like taking up projects etc..
Also I've started learning Windows API but don't know whether they're practically used for any projects. That's why I need help asking out what to focus on, what to learn more, team projects, etc
I'm already participating in many forums and competitions and now want to take my skills to a new level
Also I need to know any C++ competitions
