I have a custom piece of hardware that was designed for my client to act as a mass storage device in windows. I built some software that uploads and downloads to it via usb cable. Files show up on the device inside it. It is a basic flash drive. It works fine (a few seconds to mount with a drive letter) in Windows XP, however it takes about 2 minutes to mount in Windows7. I was wondering how to programatically get Windows to stop taking so long to mount the device. Perhaps there is a registry setting or inf file or something that can speed things up. I wonder what the difference between the way Windows 7 handles new flash drives and Windows XP is because XP takes seconds to assign this customized hardware a drive letter and Windows 7 takes 2 minutes!
