I was going to do the same thing, but you might want to start with something like a hello world program first. then once you start to get a hang of it, look at tank 3.0 for some help. http://cplusplus.com/src/

I felt the same way when I started....Though some people just can't handle C++ as a start. I felt overwhelmed, and trust me I'm very quick-witted. :)

But if you want to make games you gotta start simple and work your way up with mini-programs that do extractions and such, with text-based interfaces because that's much more simple than with graphics APIs and such(which are utter-torture aside from game-engines).
