I was just wandering if there where any good books that you could recommend to me since I already know Java and I have heard that Java is very similar to C++ so I don't really want to read though all the beginner stuff that I might already know.

Koenig and Moos' 'Accelerated C++' will get you started on writing C++ programs immediately.

Hopefully, you would realize sooner rather than later that semantically C++ is very far removed from Java.
