Extended Welcome mail?

Do you think it would be useful for the "Welcome to cplusplus.com!‏" e-mail to be extended to include a few tips about posting? Or maybe a second mail should be sent after the new site member has activated their account.

OK, more experienced posters might end up feeling like they're being taught to suck eggs, but if it helped get the message through to "greenhorns" I think it would be worth the minor hassle.

I'm thinking in particular about code tags. A lot of people clearly don't check what's up before posting, and even the

in the New Topic doesn't appear to help a lot.

You get a "Welcome to cplusplus.com!‏" e-mail?

It was a bit of a 'who reads the welcome message' statement.

I'm not against having more instructions, I just don't think it would have that big an effect.
Prob. not.

Esp. as providing tags for people to use has proved to be pretty ineffective.

Please DEA.

With the activation mails, I just search for the link.
There are a lot of offenders in the `General' forum. They tend to start with ``I'm a beginner''.

Free time is my cancer.
Please note that it is also 3:30am, and I have been working on this for the last hour.
