@ Disch: I can't stop laughing now after reading that lol. Those titles xD.

Glad someone else besides me thinks it's funny. I just got flack for it when I posted it. XD
None of you must ever forget that I posted this:

Great thread. *blush*
@BHX Specter http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/126496/2/#msg685720
That's why I tried to close this thread. How many times do I have to repeat this?

I don't recall ever saying I lost respect for anyone partaking in thread games. Where did you pull this from?

I'm net exaggerating, I wish I had never made any threads complaining about the content posted in any forums. @second-paragraph: as I have said many times now, that's why I tried to close this thread. That's twice in one post now!

This is what I said earlier, repeating it won't change anyone's minds.

I don't understand the purpose or humor of replacing parts of titles with the names of arbitrary body parts.

You didn't explicitly say it but you said:

I only felt bothered by the thread games because people I respect like Disch and others have been participating, which causes a great deal of internal stress for me. I have a certain trust for the personality and behavior of many senior members, and recently only these past months I have seen very strange breaks in my trust that have been causing me stress.

So if someone admired what you had to say they would be circle-jerking with you?

Also on topic I am with the people that say the lounge is for anything off-topic.

I described how I am affected by unexpected behavior from people I respect, I did not imply loss of respect in any way. "people I respect" was a qualifier.

You either find it funny or you don't, and that's that.

To get back on topic: get over it LB. Maybe try to write an article and ask for reviews, thereby giving a chance to the community to redeem itself. Or simply take a break.

Wait what? No...I just like the way he argues. -_-

The meaning becomes funny if you get it :P. Besides, the title too sounds funny like that.

EDIT: Added 2nd quotation.

Get over what? We've been spinning our wheels on a dead topic for over two pages now, I don't even know why we're still going.

@Stormboy: reddit has a different view of that kind of post, I guess.
LB wrote:

It's funny partly because it's juvenile and immature. And it's not arbitrary, it's the name of a sexual organ so it's extra juvenile. But in many cases it creates a play on words which adds to the hilarity.

Kind of like how sometimes a fart joke can be really funny. It's the same kind of humor. It's not smart, and doesn't take a lot of thought. It just makes you laugh because of how absurd it is.

But trying to explain humor is impossible. As catfish said... you either find it funny or you don't. Apparently you don't. =P

Lately you have consistently been quoting what the lounge sticky post has said over and over like it is somehow the law of the forum.

Because it is the law of the forum as it dictates what kind of threads can be put in the thread. LB's and ResidentBiscuit's perception of the forum due to pasts posts is the exact opposite of what the rule is for this forum.
CodeGazer wrote:
No offense to twicker who does a amazing job with managing this site but it is not the admin who makes a forum what it is. It is the members of that forum! Those members determine the type of community the forum has not the admin, they determine the general guidelines of what is acceptable in a forum, the admin doesn't really do that (Other then a basic few "rules").

Have you ever been an admin to a community? The members can make requests to the admin, but ultimately it is the admin that dictates everything on the site and forums. If the admin thinks game threads isn't appropriate he would lock them or remove them. The only thing the community contributes to a forum is the content discussed in the threads and, in the case of this site, articles. The community can request for rule revisions or rule additions, but again, it is up to the admin as to what will be done and what would really be beneficial to the community.
CodeGazer wrote:
Now I am not saying I agree that thread games are against them rules, I am just saying that to act like the only rules and guidelines of a forum is those set by the admin is utter nonsense in my opinion.

Again, you obviously haven't been an admin before. The community could decide tomorrow that posting links to porn was fine in the Lounge, but I guarantee twicker would delete those threads in a heart beat because he doesn't want them here.
CodeGazer wrote:

No, see, the way he worded it came across as he lost respect for them because they took part in a game thread. I lost respect because that thread made it sound like some of the members didn't want to help beginners except for in a few select scenarios.

Really the last thing you should do is be taking pointers from BHX. He has such a narrow minded opinion and will argue anything to death with false statements and made up facts. I hate to be rude but it seems like you just come onto this forum for little else then to start debates and arguments on every little thing BHX.

I love when people's comeback for me is that I make false statements and made up facts. Yet they can never provide proof of this. Everyone makes the false statements about me but when I tell them to post the proof they have that I have done this, amazingly they never reply.

It dictates absolutely nothing. It says
"In this forum, users can to talk about topics other than programming." and that is it. So if that was the law of the lounge why have so many posted and threads been reported in the past and either been removed or the user banned? After all according to the sticky users can talk about anything other then programming.

But that is besides the point I was trying to make.

Have you ever been an admin to a community?

No I haven't. Have you?

The members can make requests to the admin, but ultimately it is the admin that dictates everything on the site and forums.

You must not pay much attention to the community of the forums you participate in then. Specially this forum for example, twicker interacts very little with the community in general and since there is no official moderators it is up to the member of the community to decide what they find acceptable and not acceptable, what should be reported and what shouldn't be reported.

Yes it is ultimately up to twicker to do the actually "punishment" (for lack of a better word) if he finds it necessary, but he doesn't decide what when someone is reported for something that community find unacceptable (IE the community makes rules on top of those of the admin).

I might have been exaggerating on saying that it is the wholly the community that sets the guidelines and rules for a forum. But is it a combination of the admin/moderators and the community as a whole that decides what is acceptable or not. It is not solely the admin that decides what the guidelines and rules are for a forum.

Again, you obviously haven't been an admin before.

I hardly see how that equates to anything? Does me not having been a admin before somehow make my arguments false? Me having not have been an admin has nothing do to with what we are discussing.

The community could decide tomorrow that posting links to porn was fine in the Lounge, but I guarantee twicker would delete those threads in a heart beat because he doesn't want them here.

This is another thing that you do while debating. You throw out completely unreasonable edge cases to every single situation. Things that probably will never happen but you will still try and use them to prove a point.

No crap, twicker most likely wouldn't allow that but again this is a very far edge case that would probably never ever happen.

No, see, the way he worded it came across as he lost respect for them because they took part in a game thread. I lost respect because that thread made it sound like some of the members didn't want to help beginners except for in a few select scenarios.

I won't respond to this because LB has already stated that he never meant to imply that he lost respect for anyone (Which personally I don't see how others came to that conclusion either).

I love when people's comeback for me is that I make false statements and made up facts. Yet they can never provide proof of this. Everyone makes the false statements about me but when I tell them to post the proof they have that I have done this, amazingly they never reply.

Never say never.

http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/124949/ - False statements and throwing out edge cases (IE a single game) to prove a point.

http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/121697/ - False statements and again throwing out edge cases that will likely never happen to prove a point.

http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/lounge/125955/ - False statements and made up facts.

There is three threads I remembered off the top of my head, while admittedly they aren't the best examples of my claims that are out there I didn't really feel like digging far back and searching for your now deleted old username. Not really worth the time, I know what I have seen over the years and that is enough for me.

Though I will be dropping out of this topic now since the creator seems to wish for this thread to end. Though if you would like to respond to anything BHX feel free to PM me.

You don't say false statements, you simply say true unrelated statements towards an argument. Which neither adds or takes away from the argument.

I've seen him do it plenty of times. Try going back a few pages in the lounge. Do not forget BHX Specter had another account.
Being the administrator both in a technical sense and as a leader of multiple communities in the past (mostly for gaming communities), I can tell from experience that it's the community that makes the community. While twicker may do whatever he wants, nothing will thrive if all he did was completely ignore what was wanted as a community as long as its reasonable.

While it's okay to have certain rules set in stone, if a majority of the community wants a rule to change, there should be very clear reasoning that the community can relate to as to why that rule shouldn't change.

Yep, for three fan sites I created for my three favorite games during the mid-96 to late-98 early-99 (Killer Instinct, Mortal Kombat, Metal Gear/Metal Gear Solid). It was a hobby when I had considered becoming a web site designer. Closed them because members wouldn't quit posting pornographic material of the female characters from the series. That is why I went to the porn links example.
False statements and throwing out edge cases (IE a single game) to prove a point.

Not false statments, but as for the fringe case it was to show that you only need some of those on a game by game basis. Even on GD.Net, when they get questions like that, they ask if the person had a specific game in mind so they don't overwhelm them with parts they don't need to worry about right then. I remember what it was like starting out with C++ and everyone listed that I would need to learn data types, functions, references, pointers, classes, structs, linked lists, binary trees, vectors, memory allocation, etc. I was overwhelmed and thought there was no way I'd ever learn all that just to be a game programmer.
False statements and again throwing out edge cases that will likely never happen to prove a point.
Never say never.

We have spoonlicker who regularly graces us with his annoyance so none of that is fringe cases, or hypothetical, but rather anticipation of what a troll will do. Don't forget that spoon on a few occasions has made accounts and acted normal for several hundred posts just to finally reveal himself (BooleanBoy for example) and as of late I am starting to wonder if vladfrommoscow was spoonlicker after he came back under numerous nicks and recently came back and then renamed himself Vlad Licker. Spoon enjoys disrupting this site and if we implement anything (ie a reputation system for upvoting and downvoting) he would likely exploit it however he can by possibly downvoting everything. I'm betting this is the reason GD.Net limits you to a set number of votes (either up or down) before you get locked out for a 24 hour period (found this out when I was upvoting some senior members in two threads we were giving advice to a beginner in). I've already said I think spoonlicker is just a veteran member who is doing that under other accounts as some sort of twisted entertainment.
False statements and made up facts.

Not made up facts nor false statements. Just depends on how much you feel like searching to find the threads I was referencing. I mean I just did a search for code tags and got these where they were being discussed and the second one I took part in under my old account.

Yeah, fan sites aren't the same and full of more immature users than this sort of site, but I still wouldn't be an admin again even if I was paid to do it. Doubt I'd even want to be a moderator of a site for that matter now. You're experience was obviously better than mine.
